Manholes

In Auckland you can get a quick overview on manholes and drainage systems by using Auckland GIS.

The red coded lines indicate sanitary sewer lines and the circles indicate manholes into which they discharge. Blue indicates Stormwater and watermains.Manholes cannot be installed, removed or connected into unless council consent is obtained or approval from a responsible authority is given (e.g Watercare). Drainage NZ can assist you in the design, application and consenting stages including manhole installations and involved drainage.

Most Manhole work (unless classified private) is considered as Public work. In Auckland drainlayers must be Auckland city and Watercare registered (ALK approved or Manukau city approved) to be allowed to work on public systems. Both of which Drainage NZ are.
